Yingli panels — former leader, now in decline

By Fotovol Team·Updated 26 April 2026

Short answer

Yingli Solar, China, founded in 1998. World leader in 2012–2013, then plunged into severe financial restructuring. As of 2026 Yingli still produces, but at reduced scale, and pre-2018 warranties are no longer honoured consistently. New Yingli panels in Romania are rare; most stock on the market is old or second-hand. Skip if you have an alternative in the same budget.

When to pick it

In 2026, almost never for a new install. The only valid cases:

  • Replacements on pre-2015 Yingli installs — to keep string coherence. Explicitly verify the replacement panel is voltage-compatible with the remaining ones.
  • Verifiable 2017–2019 invoiced old stock at very low price — for off-grid projects (no-fuss cabin) where warranty doesn't matter.

For a real house, the money is better spent on Talesun or directly on Jinko Mid.

Watch-outs

  • "25-year warranty" on new Yingli panels — financial restructuring made many warranties theoretical. Check on yinglisolar.com whether the serial is active.
  • Distributors who can't issue an invoice — without a European invoice, the panel enters "no-warranty" territory.
  • "Budget" bundles with Yingli — frequently old stock nobody else wants. Ask the manufacturing date, refuse anything over 18 months old.
