Trina Solar panels — Vertex, ideal for large projects

Short answer
Trina Solar, founded in China in 1997, was among the first Chinese makers to reach Bloomberg Tier 1. The Vertex line (large 600W+ panels) is popular for big residential and commercial installs. Consistent quality, decent technical support in Eastern Europe. In Romania, recommended for 10 kWp+ projects, where larger panels reduce wiring and labour cost.
When to pick it
Trina is ideal when panel size matters:
- Flat roof or shallow tilt, surface > 60 m² — Vertex S+ 700W cuts the panel count (and therefore rails / clamps / cables / labour hours) by ~30% vs a 450W.
- Commercial projects 20–100 kWp — at this scale, Vertex is more cost-efficient than 450W residential panels.
- Barns, halls, agricultural buildings — long roofs with uniform tilt.
For a typical residential house with a segmented roof (dormers, chimneys), Vertex 600W+ panels can leave usable strips empty — Jinko 450W is a better fit.
Watch-outs
- Forcing Vertex onto a small residential roof — an installer proposing 600W+ on a 50 m² segmented roof loses you 1–2 panels worth of strip area. Demand the layout plan before signing.
- Vertex S priced like Vertex S+ — different generations (PERC vs TOPCon). S+ is 1–2% more efficient. Verify the exact model.
- Mismatched clamps — large panels (>2.4m) require wider clamps and reinforced racking. If the installer uses universal clamps, the structure will fail at the first heavy snowfall.
