Solis (Ginlong) inverters — cheaper Huawei for small projects

By Fotovol Team·Updated 26 April 2026

Short answer

Solis (Ginlong Technologies), China, founded in 2005. Inverter-only specialist. Very widespread in Europe for small residential installs. Slightly cheaper than Huawei/Sungrow at similar quality. Multiple distributors in Romania — verify firmware level and your distributor's ability to push remote updates. 5-year standard warranty, extensible to 10–20.

When to pick it

Solis is a good "cheaper Huawei" for small-to-medium projects:

  • 3–8 kWp Casa Verde single-phase — Solis S6 / S5-EH are popular at EUR 200–400 below the equivalent Huawei.
  • Simple on-grid, no battery — for pure systems without storage, Solis S5 string is sufficient and cheap.
  • Distributor with active SolisCloud account — the ability to push remote firmware updates is crucial. Solis had major updates in 2022–2024.

Watch-outs

  • Solis Hybrid on a non-certified battery — Solis has a short list of compatible batteries. Pylontech and BYD work, but ask for written confirmation on the exact model.
  • 5-year warranty without extension — Solis warranty extension to 10/20 years is paid; nearly free at install time, expensive if added later.
  • Single-phase on a three-phase house — Solis has a good three-phase range (S6-EH3P), don't compromise on forced single-phase.
