LG panels — exited manufacturing in 2022

Short answer
LG Electronics permanently exited solar manufacturing in June 2022, citing aggressive Chinese pricing. The 25-year warranty on installed product remains valid in principle, but service in Romania is hard to come by — only specialist firms will touch it. If anyone offers you "new" LG panels in 2026, they are old stock or, worse, counterfeit. Check the serial number on the official LG Energy portal.
When to pick it
Never for a new install in 2026. LG is an option only if:
- You already have LG NeON R / NeON 2 installed and want to add compatible panels for expansion — look for official old stock through authorised distributors (LG's official list).
- Buying second-hand from a demolished house and the price is low enough to accept the warranty risk (warranty doesn't transfer to the new buyer).
For a new system, the money is better spent on Q-Cells or LONGi.
Watch-outs
- "LG" panels with manufacturing dates from 2022+ — counterfeit or grey-market. LG no longer manufactures.
- Distributors who promise LG warranty on NEW panels — the warranty only honours product with a serial verifiable on the LG Energy portal. Demand a screenshot before paying.
- "Specialist" service at double the price — for LG defects, many Romanian installers have deprecated support. Look for firms with a demonstrable LG history, not promises.
