Growatt inverters — tight budget, but check replacement time

Short answer
Growatt New Energy, China, founded in 2010. Very popular in Romania on sub-10 kWp installs because of the price. Acceptable quality, but failure rates are higher than Huawei/Sungrow per European installer feedback. 5-year warranty, extensible. Recommended for tight budgets — but check warranty terms and your distributor's average replacement time carefully.
When to pick it
Growatt makes strict economic sense:
- 3–5 kWp Casa Verde system where the EUR 300–500 gap vs Huawei matters significantly to total budget.
- Distributor with local replacement stock — if the inverter fails, replacement in 1–2 weeks vs 1–2 months is the difference between acceptance and regret.
- Simple on-grid install — for hybrid + battery, escalating complexity amplifies failure risk.
Watch-outs
- Growatt on complex hybrid systems with a non-certified LFP battery — subtle incompatibilities can fry the battery BMS.
- 5-year warranty with no extension and no local service partner — at post-5-year failure, repair cost exceeds 50% of a new inverter.
- MIN/MIC vs SPH/MOD models — MIN is simple on-grid, SPH is hybrid; both in Growatt's catalogue, demand exact model confirmation.
